Like many immigrant families, The Mendozas gather around the table to celebrate and share the events of the day with their loved ones over delicious family recipes. Since 1995 the Mendoza brothers have shared the recipes, and the traditions they hold dear, with their friends and neighbors. With meticulous care, the brothers shop from local markets in search of the best raw ingredients, and craft them into the recipes they are known for; delicate house made fresh pastas in all shapes, gnocchi, and delicious stuffed ravioli of all sizes. The day starts early, the ovens are fired, and the aroma of fresh baked bread fills their kitchens and the streets of the North End. Monica’s Mercato opens its doors early and stays open late, to accommodate a rush of shoppers, with the essentials for a perfect lunch or dinner and a great selection of sandwiches, pizza, and prepared foods. At Trattoria di Monica and Vinoteca di Monica the emphasis is on the celebration of the day around the table. The dining rooms are unpretentious, the service familiar, and the atmosphere casual and lively. Laughter and conversation fill the spaces with the warmth of a family gathering.
