Portofino's restaurant, located at 897 Post Road in Warwick, Rhode Island, has been an institution in Rhode Island for the last 25 years. Under the ownership of the Alves family, Portofino's became known as a "wonderful little Italian restaurant" and was a popular place to meet friends or celebrate a special occasion. In 2004, the Alves sold the restaurant to a gentleman that didn't have the same passion about Portofino's. So in November of 2006, Elizabeth and her two children, Philip and Nicole, bought the restaurant with every intention of bringing it back to life. The first thing they did was change the name to Elizabeth of Portofino's so everyone would know that she had arrived. Elizabeth renovated in January of 2007, and created her own identity of Portofino's without sacrificing the rich history that was started here so many years ago. As you enter the restaurant, the rich golden tones and the soft lighting make you feel like you just walked into Portofino, Italy. Elizabeth and her family have added their personal touches such as being greeted by Elizabeth or her two children, biscottis with all hot drinks, and a delicious creme lemonciello served after dinner with pizzelles are just a few 'extras' to make you feel at home.
