Dave Howard and Mark T. Small will be in the house tonight doing what they do best AND doing it together as a truly professional ,darn right entertaining powerhouse.
Dave has been an integral part of the New England blues scene for years, Howard’s gritty, baritone voice arrived on the music scene in the mid 1970’s with the band Old No.7, covering everything from folk to rock to country music. Howard eventually teamed up with 18 year-old guitar wizard and fellow Rhode Islander Neal Vitullo, who had been playing in a band with Howard’s friend Stovall Brown, and co-founded Young Neal & the Vipers. Then,in October 1989 to form his own roots-rock blues band Dave Howard and The High Rollers with guitarist Tommy Ferraro.Flash forward to 2006. Howard had just landed what he would consider to be a dream job as the lead vocalist in Roomful of Blues His ability as a vocalist to cross over from blues to country is a result of his diverse musical background.Dave Howard is a true legend in the RI music scene. Many of us have been mesmerized by his fantastic stage presence.
Mark T. Small’s guitar prowess includes many great traditional Delta Blues numbers with a Chicago Blues slant that transforms each tune into a “tour de force”. Included are: the blazing flat-picking techniques that grabbed audiences in Mark’s Bluegrass days, the hot slide guitar playing that creates a mood and timbre change in each set.
Tonight will be extra,doubly cool because he and Mark T. Small will entertain us as a duo!
