Proclamation Ale Company only opened it's doors in January of 2014, but the seed was planted 6 years prior when owner, Dave Witham, received a home brew kit as a wedding gift. As he learned more about brewing, his passion for it grew. 5 years later, burnt out as a musician and music teacher, Dave started making plans to turn his passion into a business. Though we may be small in size, our beer is anything but that. At Proclamation Ale Co, our goal is to strangulate your taste buds with so much goodness, they beg for more. We are big beer from a small state.

The resurrected Rathskeller has embraced its history as a speakeasy and brings that culture and many popular menu items back to the present in the woods of Charlestown. Much of the favored and special features of The Rathskeller have been preserved. The 80 year old murals that surround customers in the dining room have been fully restored to their original form and others have been added to the new walls in the same vein. Many new ideas are brewing along with sticking with tradition. The beautifully made mahogany bar in the tavern serves the coldest beer in RI until 1 am.
